WEB 2 DEN 2-DEN MEETINGS

On January 21, 2005, the Web 2 Den 2 studied their Engineering activity badge under the direction of our den leader-Mr. Paul. To help earn this activity badge, we studied electricity and it gave us all a shock! Electricity can be caused by moving magnets or electricity in a wire. Next, we made a working electrical circuit using two batteries, a light bulb and a switch. That’s not all-we also built a huge catapult to launch our “baseball”. We learned about types of engineers and what they do. For example, a civil engineer designs bridges and highways. Engineers also draw blue prints, plan, repair, fix and test many everyday items around us. Mr. Paul showed us a blue print of his house and how engineers measure long sloping distances or property lines. A couple months back some visited Web 2 Den 5 leader’s house (Miss Sherry) where she had blueprints for drive thru and sit in Starbucks; learned about the different types of bridges and built some with blocks. Thanks Neil! Miss Sherry read about bridges found around the world and we drew a floor plan of her house’s first floor. As you can see electricity and engineering requires a lot of time, attention and work. It’s a shock!

November 2004 Pack Newsletter Submission

The Webelos 1 have been having a busy month. We have worked on earning our whittling chip. We went camping. At camp we went fishing, did crafts, had a field day with games like Tug of War and Sack races! We retired the flags and had a flag burning ceremony. We made campfires. We roasted marshmallows and learned how to cook potatoes in a campfire.

We worked on the fitness badge. We talked about drugs, drinking and smoking. We also read a book on drugs. The book was called "Drugs: a Deadly Game". We had a costume party. At the party we had good food and candy to eat. We had a piñata to hit. This was for our Halloween party.

We had to give up Cubby to Pack 57 but when I read the list to the Council Roundtable they got blown away by how much he did in just two months.
